Bloodbath

Edinburgh 2009

Casting took place in London. The cast was a mixture of relatively new talent along side a number of seasoned actors. Olivier Award nominated Siobhan McCarthy repeated the role of Ellie and Blue’s very own Antony Costa played Bud, alongside Ciara Janson from Hollyoaks. Also in the cast were Gary Amers, Amy Pemberton, Kelly-Anne Gower, Harry Rogers, Danielle Corlass, Carina Gillespie, Kerry Winters, Lucas Rush and Cameron Neilson.

Rehearsals took place in a basement just off Oxford Circus before moving to Edinburgh for a four week run at the St George’s Square Theatre. Tony McHale directed, Gary Hind was the Musical Supervisor and Ryan Jenkins Choreographer.

The show was designed by Takis, Ben Cracknell was the lighting designer and Gareth Owen for Orbital designed the sound. The band Brian Streeter, David Storer, Steve Hamper were under the Musical Direction of Peter Faint.

The Entertainment Business, Joanne Benjamin and Clive Chenery held things together.

‘Like its birth mother Headless, people either loved or hated Bloodbath … which is the way it should be. Luckily the ones that loved it out weighed the ones that hated it’ McHale. The Sun said … ‘it was a pleasant surprise to finally see something (in Edinburgh) that was both innovative and funny and that also rocked …’ The Sun loved it!
